Longtime veterans and disability advocate praises General Roth’s commonsense, bipartisan leadership; praises General Roth as “region’s strongest voice in Sacramento”
(Perris, CA) -- Local leaders continue to rally behind General Richard Roth’s re-election to the State Senate with Perris Mayor pro Tem Tonya Burke throwing her support behind General Roth, General Roth’s campaign announced today.
“General Roth has been a commonsense, bipartisan leader in the State Senate,” said Perris Mayor pro Tem Tonya Burke. “By putting our veterans, students and families first, General Roth has a proven track record of reaching across party lines and standing up for all Inland Southern Californians. I know General Roth will continue to be our region’s strongest voice in Sacramento. I am proud to endorse General Roth for re-election to the State Senate.”
First elected in 2014, Mayor pro Tem Burke earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, her master’s degree in clinical psychology from Pepperdine University, and is currently pursuing a PhD in organizational psychology from Walden University. She has spent nearly two decades advocating for various communities, including the disabled and veterans, helping hundreds find employment. She is also President of the Inland Empire Chapter of Run Women Run, an organization that encourages and recruits women to seek public office.
“It is truly an honor to receive the endorsement of Mayor pro Tem Burke,” said General Roth. “Mayor pro Tem Burke is one of our region’s most dedicated and passionate public servants, fighting to protect some of Inland Southern California’s most vulnerable and at-risk communities. I am looking forward to continuing to work with leaders like her as we make Inland Southern California an even greater place to live, work and raise our families.”
With less than one year before the 2016 general election, General Roth’s campaign continues to amass a steady stream of endorsements from numerous public safety, education and local leaders. Mayor pro Tem Burke joins Jurupa Valley Mayor pro Tem Laura Roughton, Norco Mayor Kevin Bash and Riverside Mayor Rusty Bailey in throwing their early support behind General Roth’s re-election. In their endorsements, all three have praised General Roth’s bipartisan leadership and commonsense approach to solving some of the region and State’s most complex policy issues, and have praised his commitment to making Inland Southern California’s issues a top priority in Sacramento.
