Local Education Leaders Rally Behind General Roth

Jurupa Valley, Moreno Valley and Riverside School District Board Members come out in support of General Roth's re-election

Local education leaders are joining a growing wave of endorsements in support of General Richard Roth's re-election to the State Senate, General Roth's campaign announced today.
Jurupa Valley Unified School District Board Member Erasmo "Memo" Mendez said, "I am excited to endorse General Richard Roth for re-election to the State Senate.  General Roth has been a champion for local schools, students and their families since Day One.  We need General Roth to continue fighting for us in the State Senate."

Mr. Mendez has been a Member of the Jurupa Valley School Board since 2010, and is a delegate to the California School Boards Association and the California Council on Teacher Education.  He is also a lecturer at the University of California, Riverside.
Moreno Valley Unified School Board Member Dr. Denise Fleming said, "General Roth has made our students' issues a top priority in the State Senate, fighting in a bipartisan manner to protect education funding and expanding opportunities for our students to be truly successful in today's economy.  That's why I am proud to endorse General Roth for re-election.  I know General Roth will continue to deliver for our region and its students."
A veteran of the United States Navy, Dr. Fleming was first elected to the Moreno Valley School Board in 2012.  She has served the needs of the education community for over 20 years, and is an adjunct college professor teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in International Business, Psychology and Marketing.
Riverside Unified School District Board Member Kathy Allavie said, "I am proud to endorse General Richard Roth for re-election. General Roth has always fought for our region, delivering critical resources to prepare our students to be college and career ready.  Our region has had no greater ally in Sacramento than General Roth.  I am excited to support General Roth for re-election."
A lifelong Riverside resident whose grandmother and father also graduated from local schools, Mrs. Allavie and her three daughters are also products of the Riverside school system.  Mrs. Allavie has served on over 25 community non-profit boards, and been president of the Junior League, the National Charity League and the Riverside Arts Foundation.  She has also served as PTA President at three different schools, and twice been named "Volunteer of the Year" at Earhart Middle School and John W. North High School.
General Roth said: "It is truly an honor to receive such strong, unequivocal support from some of Inland Southern California's most passionate and dedicated education leaders.  I am looking forward to continuing to work with them and others as we deliver even more for Riverside County's students and families."
The endorsements come amidst a steady wave of bipartisan support from a variety of community leaders.  They include Riverside County Superintendent of Schools Kenneth M. Young who called General Roth "education's greatest ally."  Corona-Norco School Board Member Mary Ybarra noted that Inland Southern California is "truly better off" with General Roth in the State Senate, and former Corona-Norco School Board President Bill Hedrick praised General Roth as "a bipartisan leader who has worked hard to improve the lives of all Inland Southern Californians."
